The registration fee can be paid online at the time of enrollment. The fee covers enrollment, a participation certificate, and entry into the Final School Spelling Bee (provided that the student qualifies by first passing the Written Round Test). After the enrollment the students will receive a word list for preparation provided by the organizers at Scripps. The school winner will represent RMS at the regional competition in Seattle, where participants from more than 90 schools will compete. Advocacy is a huge part of the power of PTA. Legislation and government handling of issues affecting education, students and teacher are influenced greatly by state and national PTA. Each local PTA/PTSA has a say in which issues are focused on at the state and national level. Our number of votes is based on the number of members in our PTSA. We send representatives to state events to vote on these issues, and we keep our local community informed about them.
